About CPM-Dairy V3

CPM-Dairy is a program to evaluate and formulate Dairy cattle rations.

The proper use of CPM-Dairy will control feed cost, promote animal health and production, and help minimize environmental pollutants.
The program allows dairy rations to be formulated or evaluated for heifers, dry cows as well as lactating cows.
Feed Dictionaries are included to provide guidelines of the feed analyses to be used for the development of rations.
Nutrient requirements are determined by the physiological state of the animal (body weight, milk production level, milk composition, growth rate) as well as environmental factors (temperature, wind chill, coat matting, etc.).

The program uses the mathematical techniques of linear and nonlinear programming to formulate least-cost rations and ensure that the nutrient requirements of the rumen microbes and cow are met. These methods will identify which ingredients should be fed as well as how much should be fed for each ration.

CPM-Dairy is a joint product from Cornell University, the University of Pennsylvania and the William H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute.
